Bumps and Shots, in plain words
What a bump is, how often you can bump, what a Shot is, and what to do with them.
Two words confuse people: bump and Shot. They are simple. A bump is you asking the directory to show your server again. A Shot is a small unit of attention that bumps earn and that you can spend on getting seen. The command reference is in Bumps and Dispresso Shots; this is the plain version.
What a bump is#
Typing /bump on a listed server posts a card in the channel and moves the server up the Recently Bumped tab on the directory. That tab is the one people open first, so a bump is the cheapest way to be seen. It does not cost anything. It has a cooldown so nobody can sit at the top.
How often you can bump#
| Your account | Cooldown | Shots earned each bump |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 12 hours | 1 |
| Plus | 6 hours | 2 |
| Pro | 2 hours | 3 |
Plus and Pro are 30 day passes on your account, not subscriptions. You can set up reminders with !br on so a message reminds you when the cooldown is over, and Plus or Pro can use !ab on for auto-bump.
What a Shot is#
Every bump adds Shots to the server's wallet. Shots you buy go on your own balance and do not expire. They are how a server climbs the Most Shots tab, and they are what you send when you tip a server you like from its listing page.
Shots are not money for ads
Shots and ad credit are separate. Ads are paid from prepaid credit in the Ads Center. Shots are never used to pay for an ad.
Featured boosts#
A Featured boost pins a listing to the homepage carousel and the top of the Featured sort for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Buy one, then open Buy Dispresso Shots in the Server hub and pick the boost and the listing you want it on. Only live listings you manage appear in that list.
