Counting

A count-up channel game with weekly, lifetime and accuracy boards.

One number per message in the counting channel, starting at 1. A correct count gets ✅ and the run carries on. Anything that is not a plain number is deleted, so the channel stays a column of numbers.

Or just tell the bot#

Say it in chat
set up counting
make counting go to #counting
turn on the weekly counting reward
make the counting winner role @Counter
turn off counting

set up counting asks which channel, or here for the one you are in. One thing to know: a counting channel deletes every message that is not a number, including one addressed to the bot, so talk to it somewhere else. Start with dispresso or mention it. It asks for anything it still needs, writes the same settings the dashboard writes, and the whole list of sentences is on Talk to Dispresso.

Three ways a count is refused, and only one of them resets you#

A wrong number gets ❌, the run goes back to zero and the bot says the next number is 1. That is the only one that costs you the run.

Counting twice in a row gets 🚫 and nothing else happens: the count stays exactly where it was and the next number is still the one you just posted. Somebody else has to take it. That means one person alone never gets past 1, which is worth knowing before you test it in a quiet server. If you want a server where one person can carry the run, switch on repeat counting.

Counting too fast gets ⏱️. There is a delay between counts, three seconds unless you raise it, and a number posted inside it is not taken. Post it again once the clock is clear.

Boards and prizes#

!count says where the run is now. !count lb is this week's counters, !count lb lifetime is all time, and !count lb accuracy ranks people by how often they got it right, which you have to count ten times to appear on at all. Staff with Manage Channels can wipe the run with !count reset. !counting is the same word if you prefer typing it out.

Once a week, on a Monday, the server can hand the person who counted most last week a role, coins, or both, and run a second prize the same way for the best accuracy. Both prizes start off.

Setting the channel#

/counting #channel points it at an existing channel, and needs Manage Channels. The Counting page in /botdashboard has the same setting plus the delay, repeat counting and the two prizes, and can make the channel for you if you have not got one.
