Courses

How the game-style courses play, what is free, XP and streaks, hints, and where to begin.

Courses are short lessons that play like a game. Each course is a line of levels: read a few minutes, beat a challenge, and the next level opens. They live under Work, Courses.

How a course plays#

  1. 1
Read a level. It is a few minutes of text and code, with the mistakes we made so you do not have to.
  2. 2
Beat the challenge. It is one of four kinds: a question, a gap to fill in, the output of your own code pasted in, or a checklist you tick honestly.
  3. 3
Get a hint if you miss. A wrong answer never costs you anything but the first try bonus. The first hint points you back at the lesson. The second gives the shape of the answer, and on a question it crosses out one wrong option.
  4. 4
Collect. Finish every level for the course badge on your profile and a card you can share.

Difficulty is written in plain words: Chill needs no experience, and Spicy goes further and assumes you already know the basics, so do an easier course first.

Stuck on a challenge?#

Read the hint, then read the level again. If it still does not make sense, ask on the forums and say which course and level. If a level is wrong or confusing, tell us on the contact page. We fix them.
