Booster Roles

A booster makes a colour role of their own and shares it with friends; staff switch it on once.

A booster makes a colour role of their own, with the name and colour they want, and can let a few friends wear it. Staff switch the feature on once; after that it is the booster's to run, and the role goes away on its own if they stop boosting.

Or just tell the bot#

Say it in chat
turn on booster roles
turn off booster roles

The switch is the whole setup by talking; the role it sits under is picked on the dashboard. Start with dispresso or mention it. It asks for anything it still needs, writes the same settings the dashboard writes, and the whole list of sentences is on Talk to Dispresso.

Turning it on#

Copy and paste
!brole setup

Needs Manage Server. That is the whole setup: the defaults let anybody currently boosting make a role and share it with up to five friends. Open Booster Roles on the dashboard to change who counts (any role you name is eligible too, boosting or not), how many friends a role can be shared with, and where in the role list new roles are placed. The dashboard tile and !brole setup flip the same switch.

Making yours#

Copy and paste
!brole create Sunset, #ff7a45
!brole create Sunset, #ff7a45, #ffd76a two colours, a gradient
!brole create Sunset, #ff7a45, #ffd76a, 🌅 with an icon

The name comes first, then the colour as a hex code, separated by commas. A second colour makes a gradient on servers Discord has turned that on for. Running it again with a new name or colour changes the role you already have rather than making a second one, so there is nothing to clean up. Dispresso creates the role with no permissions, gives it to you, and places it just under its own role so the colour actually shows.

Sharing it#

Copy and paste
!brshare @friend they get an Accept button; nothing happens until they press it
!brroles your role, who has it, and buttons to rename, recolour or take it back

A share is an offer, not a grant. The friend sees who is offering and which role, and presses Accept or Deny; only the person it was offered to can answer. The number of friends a role can be shared with is the server's setting, five by default.

When it refuses, and why#

Booster Roles isn't enabled in this server yet. Staff have not run !brole setup or switched it on from the dashboard.

You need to be boosting this server. Or hold one of the roles the server named as eligible. Stop boosting and the role, and every share of it, goes with the boost, unless one of those roles keeps you eligible.

Dispresso cannot manage your role any more. Somebody moved it above the Dispresso role. Ask staff to move Dispresso back above it.
